The roles of a literacy coach are many. Yet, the essential purpose of the literacy coach is to continually provide professional development for teachers, thereby enhancing classroom-learning experiences. Because a coaching framework ensures long-term, meaningful support for teachers, it moves well beyond the typical teacher-training scenario. Teachers are guided through demonstration lessons, classroom observations, classes, and other forms of individualized assistance and professional development.
