COVID-19 Update & Information

The district had four additional cases of Covid-19 today; one case at Margaret Chase Smith Elementary School, one case Canaan Elementary School, and two cases at North Elementary School. These new cases again appear to be a result of contact that occurred outside of school.

Nursing staff and administration worked throughout the day to determine close contacts. As a result of today’s cases, 21 additional individuals have been asked to quarantine from school. At this time, there is no recommendation that we take additional actions beyond those described above.

Recently we had a situation where a post was made on social media that was patently false regarding an incident at Skowhegan Area High School. It never happened. Unfortunately, it was spread on social media and commented on as if it were true.

Seven students avoided the need to quarantine due to taking part in the pooled testing program.
